Street photography from The River North Art District (RiNO) of Denver, Colorado. RiNO is a nonprofit organization that put it's artists, businesses, and residents first. Unlike the beautiful art seen throughout, with Denver being the second most rapidly gentrified city in the US, the pushback from the neighborhood is far from interpretive.

I had the pleasure of volunteering with STAF and taking pictures of these five beautiful girls. Photo walks are a great opportunity to experiment with new filters and equipment. I was very pleased with the soft retro filter by Walkingway. It was a perfect match for the golden hour sun.

Photo walks are a great opportunity to experiment with new filters and equipment. I was very pleased with the soft retro filter by Walkingway. It was a perfect match for the golden hour sun.

My first experience with a camera that I can remember came in 2011, shortly after my 16th birthday. My mom gave me a chocolate colored Canon Powershot. I would take that Powershot with me to boarding school in Asheville, NC as well as Italy, Greece, and Turkey in 2012.
I didn't have any knowledge about the fundamentals of shooting. I did have an intuitive sense of what felt right to me.

My point: you don't always* first need the fundamentals to be proficient. Sometimes, you just go with your gut. The fundamentals will always be there to learn when you're ready.

*"Always" being the operative word. If you are thinking about cliff diving, spelunking, or bull riding, I'd first learn the fundamentals. But that's just me.

I am lucky to achieve a 20:100 SOOC to Pictures Taken ratio. Posting a shot straight out of camera is such an honor for me. It means that I have shot something that I feel needs no edits, and to edit it would be to diminish it's value.

I recently came across a reel of @itsmononoaware and their multi-exposures and was immediately struck with inspiration.
I knew that this method was something I really wanted to cultivate. On this most recent walk with @northsidephotowalks, I figured it would be a great time to practice. I took 30 double exposures. I'll post 5 each day for some light bites on your feed. I hope you enjoy. I feel more confident in my technique than I did at the beginning of the walk.

As much as I loved the nature and landscapes on our hike, I really enjoyed watching all of the very talented photographers in their zone. Getting to watch their process capturing the photo was comparable to watching a painter paint.

Before I bought my first DSLR, I, like most people, took pictures on my phone. Shooting on smartphones should not be discredited. I consider my smartphone to be a Swiss army knife camera in many instances. To be able to shoot ultra wide, telephoto, and portrait without changing lenses is a tool that should be utilized! If you are a new photographer or a seasonsed photographer who wants to practice composition and lighting, just check your pockets or more than likely, the device on which you're reading this.

Throwback to my family trip to Havana back in 2023. Such beautiful people and beautiful buildings. All these people want are basic rights and to see the country they love prosper. I shot these on my Canon Rebel SL3 back when I was still learning how to shoot. Looking back, I am extremely proud of these photos and use them as a reminder: It's not about the capabilities of the camera, it's about the capabilities of the person behind it.

😁 I finally nailed my composition of the labryinth at Smale Park. I've been trying to capture this since September 2023. The second picture was close but still felt incomplete. The key for me was shooting with a @viltrox.usa 9mm f2.8 lens (Layman's terms: a lens with a very wide angle; almost fisheye).

My first film camera. Not just any film camera either. It's a Canon AE-1. The 70's didn't leave much in the way of architecture but they did leave behind some beautiful cameras.

Pictured with a 55-135mm f3.5 zoom lens. I have a hopefully, much lighter 35-70mm f3.5 lens coming soon.

I'm testing out a bit I like to call "Five for Friday" where I share five of my favorite shots I have taken that week. I'm running into some composition issues with the Instagram posts. I'll have to figure that out. None of the images have been run through Lightroom. All of the effects come from the film simulation built into my camera. Hopefully, next week I will figure out the composition conversion to Instagram.

The Ohio River that flows through Cincinnati has reach moderate flood levels, 20ft past normal. The resulting flood has inundated the Smale and Riverfront park as well as Sawyer Point. These are some pictures I took followed by their current condition to provide reference to the size of the flood.

Finally, I got my light board installed. I can now give my photographs a neat display.
